I

dead. What's going on here?
My modem is really slow. I have done the bandwidth tests and I only get
about 500kbps/s and I think that I should be getting over 1 thousand.
Anything you guys can do?
I am using your VisionNet Messenger ADSL 100U modem. I would like to know
if I have to connect it straight to my PC or can I connect it to a USB hub
and use it with couple of PC's.
When my modem came I found my computer didn't have a USB card. I installed a
PCI USB card and hooked up the modem. My problem now is that Windows does
not detect my modem. What do I do?

Q. I
get an error message about the drivers for my modem. -Or- I want to update
my drivers. What should I do?
A. Go
to the support page of this website and download the most current driver for
your modem and operating system. These files
are "zipped". You will need to use "WinZip" to unzip these files. If you do
not have "WinZip" go to www.winzip.com, download the
trial program, install it then unzip the files with the "Unzip Wizard". They
will land in the directory c:\unzipped. Choose your modem
from, control panel\system\device manager\network adapters. Double click on
the modem then click on the "Drivers" tab. Now
click on "Update Drivers" button. On the first screen of the wizard choose
"Specify the location of the driver". Choose "NEXT". Make
sure the first option at the top of the box is selected. Select "Specify a
location". If C:\unzipped\VisionNet_… is not visible in
the window below, click on the "Browse" button and click until you get to
the file. Click "NEXT". Windows will show you the file you
selected. Click "NEXT" then click "Finish" Your new modem is now installed.

Q. I
have installed my modem and get nothing except a power light. What do I do
now?
A.
Reinstalling the modem is the first step. Uninstall the modem's software
from the "Add / Remove" wizard. It will be listed as
"Connexant Messenger ADSL". DO NOT restart the machine at this point. Then
remove the modem from the "Device Manager" in
the "System" folder of the "Control Panel". Unplug the modem and restart the
machine. Plug in the modem and allow the "New
Device" wizard to start. Reinstall the modem per the instructions. If you
still get no green light on the link led, contact the Support
group via e-mail or by phone.

Q. I
connect my modem per the included instructions and my phone lines all go
dead. What's going on here?
A.
The culprit here is most likely a case of switched pairs. Your phone line
only uses two of the four wires in the connector, the two
most inner wires #'s 2 and 3. If a tech at some point used the outside wires
for your DSL then we need to make certain that you
use the same pair. The gray split on the "Y" cable is used for switched or
flipped pairs. Unplug the opposing end of the split
and use the gray end. If this still does not work, look in your kit
(Depending on your ISP) for a "flip" connector. It looks like a mini filter
with text similar to L2/L1 OR L1/L2. Plug it in the wall socket and then use
the ends of the split cable until your phone lines operate normally.

Anything you guys can do?
A. Check
with your ISP and or local telco to determine the problem. The modem is set
to automatically send and receive at
maximum I/O speeds.

I am using your VisionNet Messenger ADSL 100U modem. I would like to know
if I have to connect it straight to my PC or can I connect it to a USB hub
and use it with couple of PC's.
A.
USB device hubs are not meant to be used like data port 10/100 hubs. This
hub simply allows devices to share a PC not the
other way round. Although some people do this, it is not advisable that the
100U ADSL modem be hooked up to a USB hub.

When my modem came I found my computer didn't have a USB card. I installed a
PCI USB card and hooked up the modem. My problem now is that Windows does
not detect my modem. What do I do?
A. The
PCI drivers for some generic PCI devices conflict with or simply do not
support the "NEW DEVICE" wizard. They do not
report to the system well. Hook up another USB device to confirm whether or
not this is true for you. In any case you can manually in
stall the modem from the control panel "Add New Hardware" wizard. When it
ask for the drivers select the VisionNet CD drivers.

Q.
I am dissatisfied with my current DSL / ISP provider. What other
providers can use your ADSL 100U modem?
A.
Here is a primer on DSL services. Your Local phone company is the true
provider of DSL service. They control the phone lines
that come into your home or business. The ISP (Internet Service Provider)
simply leases the lines from the TELCO (TELephone
COmpany). Their job is to give you access to the Internet via a preset
account. The numbers may vary but if one provider offers
service and a good DSL line is qualified by your local TELCO then any
provider should be able to use the same modem to access the
Internet. Changes may need to be made in the settings of the modem or to
your account information, which you or the ISP can
do by calling us with the correct settings of their system, and if they use
a special browser or Point-to-Point protocol, they should
be willing to download that info to you and allow you to use your current
modem.

Q.
I want to connect other PC's to my DSL service using your modem. How
can I share this connection?
A. By
purchasing a separate modem. Or consult your Operating System's 'Help" Index
for "Sharing an Internet Connection". Also
Look on the products pages for products that will allow you to share a
connection right through our lines of equipment.
